Our Story

With more than 40 years’ experience, our story begins in 1988 when we recognised the growing reliance on technology but saw no safety mechanisms in place to protect either software users or vendors. As pioneers of the software escrow category, we have set standards for the wider industry and helped shape its direction ever since.

That foundation has been strengthened through key acquisitions. In 2021, NCC Group acquired Iron Mountain’s Software Escrow business, which is now part of Escode. In 2024, Escode added the customer portfolio of World Escrow following its insolvency, further reinforcing our position as the world’s leading software escrow provider.
